Real Madrid Vs Celta Vigo: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Celta Vigo at home in the La liga match day 17. The last Real Madrid game was against Elche which was bad result after a good first half and then wasting several opportunities. Then Carvajal gave away a silly penalty due to an error and made it easy for the opponents. But overall display was good except for the attack and wing backs.

The team rating for the match against Elche can be found here: Team Rating

This is one of the important league matches of the season as there is already a gap at the top. Real have no option but to win this fixture so that they remain in the title race.

Last year this fixture was a 2-2 Draw.

Looking at the

Coach Comments:
  • Every team will drop points, there’s a lot to play.
Other Comments:
  • Marcelo left a void in defense and was uncoordinated in attack, he should not start in all likelihood.
Squad Updates:

This will be the Twenty third game of the season and Real have been inconsistent in their performances, they have 13 wins, 4 Draws and 5 losses. And in the last few games the performance levels have improved but in the last game finishing was too poor they had 16 shots of which 6 were and target and still just 1 goal, efficiency can not be worse. And one defensive error led to lose 2 valuable points.

Celta has a great attack. So, Real will need to be very careful defensively. They have won 5 of the last 6 games and drawn one. So they are on a purple patch right now.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a decent form. He has not been great but his performance has been fine. He could not have done anything more for the Penalty goal.

Mendy should start on the left. Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs. And Carvajal will start on the right. So Mendy, Ramos, Varane and Carvajal should start. Defense has been in fine form but errors have led to goals in all the games where we have conceded. Marcelo in the last game made the defense vulnerable, he was good going forward but was out of sync with Asensio on the left. So, he should start on the bench and only come in the second half to provide relief to Mendy.

Modric has been amazing but is lacking support from the attack. He would start, and so should be Kroos. So, Kroos, Casemiro and Modric should start. Ødegaard, Valverde and Isco should start from the bench.

The forwards have been pathetic in the last game, they have been wasting so many chances in front of the goal. Hazard may be available on the bench, but without match fitness Asensio should start on the left, Benzema upfront and Lucas Vazquez on the right. So, Vinicius, Hazard and Jovic should start from the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half especially taking into consideration that the team's fitness.

The probable substitutions will be:

Asensio > Hazard
Modric > Ødegaard/Valverde
Kroos > Isco/Valverde
Mendy > Marcelo
Lucas Vazquez > Jovic/Vinicius

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

So the final starting 11 will be:

With Ramos out at the last minute, Nacho should replace Ramos

Real Madrid vs Manchester City: The Starting 11

Before going into the next Match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Levante. Benzema: 3/10, Only misses and bad finishes, final third game play missing. Hazard: 4/10, created a few chances, missed a sure 1 on 1 chance, got injured again Isco: 5/10, too much 1-2 passes and final third game play missing, need to release quicker. Good distribution outside the box. Modric: 7/10, did his bit, created ample chances, could have pressed better for the goal, but was surely a wonder strike  Casemiro: 8/10, did all he was supposed to do, took a yellow when required, made his presence felt in the attack as well, could have headed it home but missed. Kroos: 6/10, good first half, lacked the precision in the second half and after the goal seemed lost. Seemed he was out of gas. Marcelo: 7/10, did very well to be honest, some defensive lapses were there but with the amount of offensive positioning it is expected. Need to get better in crossing than this but hardly any

Real Betis Vs Real Madrid: The Starting 11

Before going into the next match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Barcelona in the El Clasico. Benzema: 5/10, Poor game that has very less involvement, only misses and bad finishes, final third game play was better than previous game but still not up to the mark. Vinicius: 9/10, Became the youngest to score in the El Clasico, had several good plays. The early yellow could have made him a little cautious but played his heart out and recovered 3-4 balls for the team. Isco: 8.5/10, Good game and a few good runs, a great shot at goal which was stopped by the keeper. He was good in distribution as well, could have taken a few more chances but was a bit of communication problem with Marcelo. Kroos: 8/10, Seemed the one to orchestrate the game. Great assist in the first goal and maintained composure throughout the game, even under pressure, coordinated well with attack and defence really well.  Casemiro: 8.5/10, What a game! With an assist or goal he would hav
