The upcoming match is against Athletic Bilbao away from home in the San Mames in the La Liga match day 37. The last Real Madrid game was against Granada which was a good display in the all departments but had very controversial referring.

The team rating for the match against Granada can be found here: Team Rating

Currently Real are a recovering side, with several players unavailable due to injury but they need to win at any cost to have any chance of winning the league.

Earlier the home game was a 3-1 Win. And last season this fixture was a 0-1 win.

Coach Comments:
  • Zidane: “Marcelo had some discomfort, we didn't want to risk him. Miguel and Marvin played a very good game, we started well from the beginning and we deserve this victory.”
Other Comments:
  • Courtois: "We have to keep winning and hope that Atletico drop points, that is all we can do."
Squad Updates:

This will be the Fifty first game of the season and Real have been inconsistent in the matches and the results speak for themselves, they have had 29 wins, 12 Draws and 9 losses. In the last few games the performance has been poor bar the last one especially in mid-field and with this recovering team it is not making the run any easier.

Athletic are a good side and are good in attack, so Real will need to be careful in all departments and be ready for their counters.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form. He has supported the defense pretty well but has not received the same from the team and with so many changes due to injury it is getting tough.

Mendy, Ramos, Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez are out injured. Varane is also injured but might recover in time but is not expected to start, Nacho and Militao will start. So, Odriozola and Miguel should start. Miguel, Nacho, Militao and Odriozola will start. Marcelo and Marvin should be available as substitutes.

Modric has looked a tad slow in the last few games but he has been exceptional. Kroos has been great and should be ready to start! So, Modric and Kroos should start along with Casemiro. Isco and Blanco should be available on the bench.

The forwards have been poor all season except last game, Hazard is back but should not start and Vinicius should start on the left and Valverde will start on the right. And Benzema should start upfront.  Mariano, Asensio, Rodrygo and Hazard should start from the Bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more changes in the second half if the score is conducive especially taking into account the team's fatigue.

The probable substitutions will be:

Vinicius > Hazard
Modric > Asensio
Kroos >  Blanco
Nacho > Varane
Benzema > Rodrygo/Mariano

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

So the final starting 11 will be:

Update: Kroos OUT <> Rodrygo IN (Kroos unavailable due to Covid protocols)
Valverde moves to Midfield and Rodrygo in attack.

This is a knock out game and Real need to win this at any cost.

Coach Comments:
  • We've handled it badly, we did what we could on this pitch. It wasn't a football match. It should have been suspended. The conditions weren't right for a match. I'm repeating myself, but that's how it is.
Other Comments:
  • Attack is doing really bad, they need to step up.
Squad Updates:

This will be the Twenty fifth game of the season and Real have been inconsistent in their performances, they have 14 wins, 5 Draws and 5 losses. In the last few matches the performance has dipped but in the last few games finishing was utterly poor, efficiency needs to improve a lot.

Athletic has been good but have not got good results. So, Real will need to be very careful to score goals and not concede.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form. He has supported the defense really well.

Mendy should start on the left. Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs. But as Carvajal is not fit Lucas Vazquez will start on the right. So Mendy, Ramos, Varane and Lucas Vazquez should start. Defense has been okay but errors have led to goals in all the games where we have conceded. Without Marcelo the defense looks better. So, he should start on the bench and only come in the second half to provide any relief to Mendy.

Modric has been amazing but is lacking support from the attack. He would start, and so should be Kroos. So, Kroos, Casemiro and Modric should start. Ødegaard, Valverde and Isco should start from the bench. ZZ should look to give more minutes to others and have the substitutions early in the second half.

The forwards have been poor in the last few games, they have been wasting several chances in front of the goal. Hazard will be available and should start on the Left, Asensio should start on the Right, and Benzema upfront . So, Vinicius and Mariano should start from the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half especially taking into consideration that the team's fitness.

The probable substitutions will be:

Asensio > Vinicius
Modric > Ødegaard/Valverde
Kroos > Isco/Valverde
Mendy > Marcelo
Hazard > Vinicius/Mariano

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

Real Madrid Vs Athletic Club: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Athletic Bilbao at home in the La liga match day 19. The last Real Madrid game was against Atletico Madrid which was great result after a good display in all the departments.

The team rating for the match against Atletico can be found here: Team Rating

This is the one of the important league matches of the season. Real have no option but to win this as this is a rescheduled game from match day 19.

Last year this fixture was a 0-0 draw.

Looking at the

  1. Mariano
  2. Hazard

  • My players are very special, Carvajal, Lucas, the captain, everyone of them is SPECIAL.
Other Comments:
  • The team has the full defensive unit back and Valverde as well.
Squad Updates:

This will be the nineteenth game of the season and Real have been inconsistent in their performances, they have 10 wins, 3 Draws and 5 losses. And in the last couple of games the performance levels have improved significantly. Return of Ramos and Carvajal have seen the Defense become solid. Midfield has been good, attack has missed a bit of sharpness but been just able to get one or two goals.

Athletic has a good attack and defense. So, Real will need to be solid in the defense and be sharper in attack.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in poor form and has been leaking goals in the last few games but have shown signs of improvement in the last three games.

Mendy will start on the left. Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs. And Carvajal will start on the right. So Mendy, Ramos, Varane and Carvajal should start. Defense has been in fine form for last three games. They need to be well coordinated against the attack that is sharp.

Modric has been amazing and is sure to start. Mid field has been getting the control back in the last few games even without Valverde. Kroos and Ødegaard have been sharp as well but both lacked fitness, which was evident in defending the counters leading to the goals. Real has been creative and controlling in the midfield and hope to see this progression flourish. As Casemiro is suspended Modric, Valverde, Kroos should start. Ødegaard and Isco will start from the bench, though it is a problematic situation for Ødegaard who has been out due to a minor injury.

The forwards have been better in the last two game but otherwise they have been mis-firing and missing sitters. They have been creating chances all season but not finishing them. Hazard is not available and Vinicius should start on the left, Benzema upfront and Rodrygo on the right. Though Lucas Vazquez was great in the last game, he needs some rest. So, Lucas Vazquez, and Asensio should start from the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half especially taking into consideration that the team's fitness.

The probable substitutions will be:

Vinicius > Asensio
Modric > Ødegaard
Kroos > Isco
Mendy > Marcelo
Rodrygo > Lucas Vazquez

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

Athletic Bilbao Vs Real Madrid: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Athletic Bilbao away from home in the La liga match day 34. Athletic are 8th on the leader-board and Real are 1st and just 4 points more than Barcelona on the league table. This game is the most important game now, this has potential to decide the league, Madrid can not take any risks and have to win at all costs if they want to stake their claim on the league title.

Real Madrid had drawn 0-0 at home in the first leg.

Other Comments:
  • Overall team play was poor, especially in the first half and were not able to convert many chances nor were able to create many. The team needs to step up against a good team.
Squad Updates:

This is a very crucial match for the league title as the margin is just 4 points and several tricky games lined up for both teams, Real has to be very cautious in selecting the team and go full on to get the 3 points.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form and needs to keep this up.

Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs, though Ramos needs some rest but this game would be very tough and needs his leadership on the field. Mendy was great last game but was involved a lot, so Marcelo should be the one start. And Carvajal will start on the right. So Marcelo, Ramos, Varane and Carvajal should start. Defence has been in good form but there were few errors which went unpunished in the last game and the game before. So, the defence will have to be very careful. Varane should be back after his minor injury during the last game, fortunately he got some rest.

All the mid-fielders are available now, Valeverde should be go to option instead of Modric due to physical nature of the game. And he should start, so it is going to be Kroos, Casemiro and Modric in the middle. Modric, Isco and James will be on the bench and will come handy in the second half. With matches coming so frequently these substitutions will be key to maintaining the fitness and avoid fatigue.

The forwards have been in good shape but still not converted many chances, it is going to be a difficult decision for ZZ. Hazard was rested last game and will be fresh to start, and with Vinicius seeming a bit tired needs a short break. So Hazard, Benzema and Rodrygo should start, and Mariano, Bale, Vinicius and Asensio should be on the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotation in the second half.

The probable substitutions will be:

Rodrygo > Asensio
Hazard > Vinicius
Valverde > Modric
Kroos > Isco
Casemiro > James
Benzema > Mariano/Bale
Ramos > Militao

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

So the final starting 11 will be:

Real Madrid Vs Athletic Bilbao: The Starting 11

Coach Comments:
  • Nothing specific
Other Comments:
    • With the rest provided to Vinicius and short time play for Rodrygo, both are hot to start. Same goes for Modric as well.
    Squad Updates:

This is a crucial game for La Liga title race, with all the teams neck to neck. With Varane back playing regularly we will have him in the starting 11 and as Marcelo has a muscular injury he should miss and Mendy the only available option, he should start.  So Mendy, Ramos, Varane and Carvajal will start, more so with the great work over the past few games by the defence.

In the goal Courtois will start, having got few good games in the past, things look definitely positive.

All the four super mid-fielders are doing great, Modric, Kroos, Valverde and Casemiro. Casemiro is on 5 yellow cards, and will not be available. So, it is going to be Modric, Kroos and Valverde.

As Lucas Vazquez and Hazard have been injured Isco, Bale, Vinicius and Rodrygo are the go to options. As Bale and Isco played bulk of the game.  So, Vinicius, Benzema and Rodrygo should start. and will have Bale, Isco, James and Jovic as substitutes depending on the work rate of others.

So the final starting 11 will be:
