Atalanta Vs Real Madrid: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Atalanta away from home in the Gewiss Stadium in the UCL first leg. The last Real Madrid game was against Valladolid which was a boring play but after the lead it was full control. Without many key players it was a boring win.

The team rating for the match against Valladolid can be found here: Team Rating

Right now Real are depleted but need to win at any cost so that they keep their chance alive in the competition.

Looking at the

Injury list:

Coach Comments:
  • Zidane: ''An important victory, we added 3 points but we have to continue and only think about ourselves, not about the others. We are well, we have not conceded for 3 games and that is the work of everyone in the team"
Other Comments:
  • Courtois: "You have to respond and help the team. I’m happy with my performance and with the team's for getting all 3 points."
Squad Updates:

This will be the Thirty third game of the season and Real have been fairly inconsistent in their games and results, they have had 19 wins, 5 Draws and 8 losses. In the last several games the performance has dipped  and with this thin squad things are getting complicated as injuries keep piling up.

Atalanta is a very attacking team but are fragile in the defence, so Real will need to be careful in all departments.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form. He has supported the defense really well but has not received the same treatment from the team and more so with so many injuries in the defense.

Mendy should start on the left. As Ramos is out after surgery, Militao is out as well. Nacho should get the nod ahead of all and Varane will start as the center backs. Carvajal is out again so Lucas Vazquez should fill in. So Mendy, Nacho, Varane and Lucas Vazquez should start.

Modric has been great and with Kroos playing well both should start. So, Kroos, Casemiro and Modric should start. Isco, Arribas and Blanco should start from the bench.

The forwards have been poor all season, they have been spurning chances in front of the goal. With some improvements in the last games the forwards will look for continuity but with injuries its complicated. Hazard is out and Vinicius should start on the left. Asensio should start on the Right and with Benzema out Mariano should start upfront.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half especially taking into consideration the team's fatigue.

The probable substitutions will be:

Asensio > Isco
Modric > Blanco
Mariano > Hugo Duro
Vinicius > Arribas

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

So the final starting 11 will be:
