The upcoming match against Borussia Mönchengladbach is a home game in the Champions league match day 6. The last Real Madrid game was against Sevilla which was the okay performance under pressure. This was pathetic display by the forwards other departments were good and just managed to win with an forced own goal. The forwards missed several chances, midfield created and controlled the game well, defense was not bad and goalkeeping was solid.

This will be the sixth game of the Champions league season and Real had one of the worst performances in the recent past, last game was an improvement in all departments but forwards are still missing several chances. But now its time to improve, this game is a do or die and would decide the chances of progressing to next round. Madrid needs to win this at any cost.

Borussia has a very fast attack and their counters are too good. So, Real will have to be extremely careful on the break and need to have a plan for these.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been very poor in the last few games, his errors have cost several points but he has shown signs of improvement. Things can only go better from here.

Mendy is the only option on the left. Carvajal and Odriozola are recovering. Odriozola might get a nod to start. Ramos is now fit so, Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs.So Mendy, Ramos, Varane and Odriozola should start. Defence has been poor but signs are positive when Marcelo is not playing. Hopefully they will contain the lapses and there would not be any more errors.

Modric has been good and should start. Real needs to get the control back in the mid field. Casemiro was not great in the previous games, but should start but he needs to improve a lot. Kroos, Modric, Casemiro should start. Ødegaard and Isco will start from the bench.

The forwards have been mis-firing even now, Benzema has returned but he is doing everything well except finishing. Hazard is eternally injured and not available to start. Vinicius was better in offence but as usual his finishing needs to improve. Rodrygo was not great but seems to provide a bit of edge going forward. So Vinicius, Benzema and Rodrygo should form the front line.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half.

Before going into the next Match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Levante. Benzema: 3/10, Only misses and bad finishes, final third game play missing. Hazard: 4/10, created a few chances, missed a sure 1 on 1 chance, got injured again Isco: 5/10, too much 1-2 passes and final third game play missing, need to release quicker. Good distribution outside the box. Modric: 7/10, did his bit, created ample chances, could have pressed better for the goal, but was surely a wonder strike Casemiro: 8/10, did all he was supposed to do, took a yellow when required, made his presence felt in the attack as well, could have headed it home but missed. Before going into the next match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Barcelona in the El Clasico. Benzema: 5/10, Poor game that has very less involvement, only misses and bad finishes, final third game play was better than previous game but still not up to the mark. Vinicius: 9/10, Became the youngest to score in the El Clasico, had several good plays. The early yellow could have made him a little cautious but played his heart out and recovered 3-4 balls for the team. Isco: 8.5/10, Good game and a few good runs, a great shot at goal which was stopped by the keeper. He was good in distribution as well, could have taken a few more chances but was a bit of communication problem with Marcelo. Kroos: 8/10, Seemed the one to orchestrate the game.
