Real Madrid Vs Liverpool: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Liverpool at home in the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium in the Champions League. The last Real Madrid game was against Eibar which was a good game in all departments having to defend on several occasions, it was a good win after some weird weather conditions.

The team rating for the match against Eibar can be found here: Team Rating

Currently Real are a recovering side, with few regulars out but need to win at any cost to remain in the title race.

Coach Comments:
  • Zidane: "You say Asensio, but it's everyone. Today we can name Militão, Marcelo, Isco. That is why we have to enjoy what we did today because it is not easy. And now to think about what comes next Tuesday, the Champions League."

Other Comments:
  • Asensio: "We knew this game was going to be important for us. We knew we had to win to keep our hopes alive. Good win. We had more than enough chances amd we had to be clinical with our finishing. We created a lot of chances and that's the most important thing."
Squad Updates:

This will be the Fortieth game of the season and Real have been usually inconsistent in the matches and so has been the outcomes, they have had 24 wins, 7 Draws and 8 losses. In the last few games except the last three, the performance has been poor especially in attack and with this ailing team it is not making the run any easier.

Liverpool is a good attacking side and are fine in the defense, so Real will need to be careful in both departments and be ready for their counters.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form. He has supported the defense really well but has not received the same from the team and more so with many changes owing to injuries in the defense.

Mendy should start on the left. As Ramos is out injured Nacho should get the nod ahead for the center back position and Varane will start as a center back after the rest. Carvajal is now back but might play only as a substitute as he lacks game time. So Mendy, Nacho, Varane and Lucas Vazquez should start. Carvajal, Marcelo and Militao should be available as substitutes.

Modric has been a bit slow for last few games but was always in control and last few games were great. Same goes with Kroos, who has been exceptional. So, Kroos, Casemiro and Modric should start. Isco, Arribas and Blanco should start from the bench.

The forwards have been poor all season, they have been wasting many chances in front of the goal.  Hazard is out and Vinicius should start on the left, being good in the last game. With Asensio playing well, he should get his chance ahead of Rodrygo. And Benzema should start upfront.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half especially taking into consideration the team's fatigue and injuries for the next games.

The probable substitutions will be:

Vinicius > Rodrygo
Modric > Arribas
Nacho > Militao
Asensio > Marcelo
Kroos > Isco

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

The most probable kit to be used for the game will be the home kit!!!

So the final starting 11 will be:

Real Madrid vs Manchester City: The Starting 11

Before going into the next Match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Levante. Benzema: 3/10, Only misses and bad finishes, final third game play missing. Hazard: 4/10, created a few chances, missed a sure 1 on 1 chance, got injured again Isco: 5/10, too much 1-2 passes and final third game play missing, need to release quicker. Good distribution outside the box. Modric: 7/10, did his bit, created ample chances, could have pressed better for the goal, but was surely a wonder strike  Casemiro: 8/10, did all he was supposed to do, took a yellow when required, made his presence felt in the attack as well, could have headed it home but missed. Kroos: 6/10, good first half, lacked the precision in the second half and after the goal seemed lost. Seemed he was out of gas. Marcelo: 7/10, did very well to be honest, some defensive lapses were there but with the amount of offensive positioning it is expected. Need to get better in crossing than this but hardly ...
