Real Madrid Vs Alaves: The Starting 11

The upcoming match is against Alaves at home in the La liga match day 35. Alaves are 15th on the leader-board and Real are 1st and just 4 points more than Barcelona on the league table. This game is the most important game now, and has the potential to decide the league, Madrid can not take any risk and will have to win at all costs if they want to make sure that the league title is theirs.

Real Madrid had won 1-2 away in the first leg.

Looking at the

Injury list:
  1. Nacho
  2. Reiner Jesus
Suspended:
  1. Ramos
  2. Carvajal
Just recovered:
  1. Lucas Vazquez
  2. Jovic
Practiced:

The rest of the players are available for selection.

Skipped Practice:
  • None
Coach Comments:
  • James has asked not to be selected for the game against Athletic Bilbao.
Other Comments:
  • Game play against Athletic Bilbao was not bad but conversion was poor, the team needs to step up.
Squad Updates:

This is a crucial match for the league title as the margin is just 4 points and next games are tricky for both teams, Real has to be very cautious in selecting the team and go all guns blazing to get all the 3 points.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form and needs to keep this up.

Ramos is not available, So Militao and Varane will start as the center backs, and Ramos will get some rest. Mendy would start on the right in place of unavailable Carvajal. It wont be ideal but this is a better option considering no other defender is available.  Marcelo should be the one to start on the left. . So Marcelo, Militao, Varane and Mendy should start. Defence has been in fine form but there were few errors which went unpunished in the last few games. So, the defence will have to be very careful and more so with the absence of Ramos and Carvajal.

All the mid-fielders are available now but James might opt out like last time. Modric was good last game and played the full 90 minutes and should be rested and Valeverde should be go to option instead of Modric. So it is going to be Kroos, Casemiro and Valverde in the middle. Modric and Isco will be on the bench and will come handy in the second half. With matches coming so frequently these substitutions will be key in maintaining the fitness and avoiding fatigue.

The forwards have been in good shape but still did not convert many chances, it is going to be a difficult decision for ZZ. Hazard was rested last game as a caution and might come as a substitute. Vinicius got he short break and should start on the left. So Vinicius, Benzema and Asensio should start, and Jovic, Mariano, Bale, Hazard, Lucas Vazquez and Rodrygo should be on the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half.

The probable substitutions will be:

Asensio > Rodrygo/Lucas Vazquez
Vinicius > Hazard
Valverde > Modric
Kroos > Isco
Benzema > Mariano/Bale/Jovic

So the formation would be 4 3 3.

So the final starting 11 will be:

With the squad update:
No Marcelo, so Mendy goes to Left Back position and Lucas Vazquez will start in the Right Back position.

The Starting 11: Best team for the first quarter Real Madrid

Real Madrid have completed 9 matches in the La liga, which is approximately 25% of the campaign. And they have played 3 matches in Champion's league which has a maximum of 13 matches to win it. Effectively 25% of the season is over. The standings are as follows, 2nd in the league behind Barcelona, having played most of the top teams except Barcelona. If they continue the same momentum they have a good chance in the league, and just to point they have done so with several injuries. Real has lost just one match but overall performance needs improvement So the future seems bright, the team needs more consistency in defence and goal keeping. In the champion's league they are second behind PSG, who have a 100% win record. One desperate win, one tough draw and a bad loss, the shape of the team is not great. They will qualify it seems but given the easy group, things are not smooth for sure. But going ahead their solid performance is what is required. In the competitio...

Shaktar Donetsk Vs Real Madrid: The Starting 11

The upcoming match against Shaktar Donetsk is an away game in the Champions league match day 5.  The last Real Madrid game was against Alaves which was the worst performance of the season. This was pathetic display in every department leading to a dismal loss. It was the 1st home defeat to Alaves in 20 years, says volumes about the teams display. The team had 20 shots, of which 9 were on target and only 1 goal which meant the intensity in attack was totally missing. The team rating for the match against Alaves can be found here:  Team Rating This is the fifth game of the group stage and Real have no option but to win this for their fans and for themselves and to keep their chance of progression alive.
