Squad Updates:

This will be the third game of the season and Real have been missing several opportunities in the previous games, the game is very important. Madrid need to win this at any cost to get the confidence back, especially for the attack.

Valladolid has a good attack and last season drew this fixture 1-1 , so Real will have to be extra careful.

In the goal Courtois will start, he has been in a good form in the last games and needs to keep the same going.

Marcelo is injured, Mendy was solid last game and should get the nod this time again. Ramos and Varane will start as the center backs, there is no doubt in it. Carvajal on the right is also a certainty. So Mendy, Varane, Ramos and Carvajal should start. Defence was good except for some switching off leading to the goals in the last game. So, the defence will have to be very careful especially against a fast attack of Valladolid.

Modric was really good in the last game, and controlled the game after coming off the bench. Valverde put a man of the match performance and Kroos was subbed due to injury. So it is going to be Modric, Casemiro and Valverde in the middle. Casemiro will be needed to stuff  up the Valladolid counters, but he has to pull up his socks as he has not been his usual self in the last few games. And Valverde will be required to support the attack on the flank.

The forwards have recovered from injuries but Hazard and Asensio might not be fully fit to start. So, Vinicius is the only option on the left. Benzema will be the main striker. Isco will start on the diamond support role. So Vinicius, Benzema and Isco should start, and Hazard, Jovic, B Mayoral, Rodrygo, Lucas Vazquez and Asensio should be on the bench.

As there are 5 substitutions available, ZZ should think for more rotations in the second half.

The probable substitutions will be:

Vinicius > Hazard
Modric > Ødegaard
Valverde > Rodrygo/Asensio
Isco > Rodrygo/Asensio
Benzema > Jovic/Mayoral, seems very unlikely though

So the formation would be 4 3 1 2.

The most probable kit to be used for the Valladolid game will be the home kit !!!

So the final starting 11 will be:

Real Madrid vs Manchester City: The Starting 11

Before going into the next Match I will rate the performance of players in the last game vs Levante. Benzema: 3/10, Only misses and bad finishes, final third game play missing. Hazard: 4/10, created a few chances, missed a sure 1 on 1 chance, got injured again Isco: 5/10, too much 1-2 passes and final third game play missing, need to release quicker. Good distribution outside the box. Modric: 7/10, did his bit, created ample chances, could have pressed better for the goal, but was surely a wonder strike  Casemiro: 8/10, did all he was supposed to do, took a yellow when required, made his presence felt in the attack as well, could have headed it home but missed. Kroos: 6/10, good first half, lacked the precision in the second half and after the goal seemed lost. Seemed he was out of gas. Marcelo: 7/10, did very well to be honest, some defensive lapses were there but with the amount of offensive positioning it is expected. Need to get better in crossing than this but hardly ...
